“Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.” -Corrie Ten Boom
Caleb was delayed in receiving his promise, but when others saw giants in the land , He knew God would give the victory. Though his inheritance in the promised land had to wait for years he, never waivered and kept the hope of his inhertance dear. He never let it go. He knew that the One who promised was faithful.
Joshua 14:12, Caleb said, ” Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as He said.”
Father, I thank You for our faithfulness. Thank You for watching over Your Word to perform it on our behalf. Even when we wait on Your promises, and may even forget them ourselves, You never forget! Thank You Lord! I love You!
“I love you, Lord, not doubtingly, but with absolute certainty. Your Word beat upon my heart until I fell in love with You, and now the universe and everything within it tells me to love You, and tells the same thing to us all, so that we are without excuse.” – Augustine
1 John 5:2, “This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world, even our faith.”
Father, I pray that You would perfect Your love in me, by the power of Your Word. I want to live in a way that shows Your love to others and brings You honor. I love You Lord.
“He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep in order to gain that which he cannot lose.” -Jim Elliot
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Father, please help me to be rich in the things which count for eternity. Please help me to be sensitive and generous in ways that will add up for eternal investments. Please help me not to be selfish, but to be generous and have a heart like Yours. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
“I have seen the face of the captain and he is smiling.” -Robert Louis Stevenson
Robert Louis Stevenson recounted a story of a ship tossed in a storm. A sailor managed to make his way to the control room as the vessel was tossed about. He watched the captain wrestle to keep control of the ship. The captain guided the vessel through rocky waters into open sea. He looked at the young sailor gave him a slight smile. The sailor then returned to the crew and reported that they were going to be fine. The storm still tossed them about and the crew asked how he could know this. The sailor told them, ‘I have seen the face of the captain, and he smiled at me.’
Sometimes we find ourselves, or someone we love tossed about in the storms of this life. Health or financial concerns, divorce, addictions, too much work, not enough work, losses… we can take a beating on a daily basis. God knows. He cares. If He is the “captain” of your life, He will guide you safely through your storms. Look into His face. He is smiling on you.
Psalm 32:6, “For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Father, I thank You for faithfully watching over me. I thank You that You are near and that You care. I thank You that though I may not know the end to a troublesome time You do; and You smile on me. Thank You Lord!
“In art the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can inspire.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
“In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female.”
God is a Creator. He is our Creator. He thought of you and made you in a special and unique way. I make pottery. I think of things I’d like to make. I think about the steps I need to take in the process before the item is finished. I sometimes daydream about making pottery for days before I have the opportunity. I look forward to it. I wedge clay, I throw it on a wheel. With varying degrees of pressure I mold and form vessels to take on whatever shape I desire. Sometimes I’ll put impressions on the piece or add texture or appliques. I then let it dry out. After that, it’s fired in a kiln. Then, I think about how I’ll decorate it. I glaze it whatever color I want; or I might add a pattern or an image hand glazed onto the piece. Then, the piece goes back into the kiln. After high firing, the piece is completed. It is either decorative or useful. There are many steps and many considerations. The process all starts with inspiration in my heart. How much more is God inspired by the creation that you are! How much more is His heart attached to completing the work He has begun in you! How much more dear is the finished product to the heart of God and how many more steps He will take to finish that work!
Thank You Father for Your faithful work in my heart. Thank You for Your goodness and grace. Thank You that You are forming , making, creating Your will in my life.
“Yet, O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.”
“How silently and how mysteriously He works within us! In unexpected and spontaneous ways, He works ot God’s perfect and profound will.” Charles R. Swindoll
God is so faithfully working in our hearts and lives. It is mysterious! Most often I believe we are unaware of God’s presence and prompting and how He nudges us into situations and opportunities and relationships. He uses all of these things in a wonderful way to create the image of Christ in us, that He will be seen through us.
“For those who God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.” Romans 8:29
Father, thank You for Your faithful love and unfailing plan. ThankYou that even when I may not be actively seeking Your will in a matter You continue to guide me and form Your image in and through me. You are so wonderful. I love You!
“A sense of need is a God-given thing. Thank God for the experience of disillusionment, for everything which drives us to Him.” R. Paul Stevens
It’s really true that when I have been most heart broken, at the end of my rope, hopes dashed… I have also been most aware of my need for God. It’s rough at the time, but I can say I am grateful not for every situation, but for everything God has redeemed. God has used my worst offenses and greatest losses to form His image in my heart. For that I’m grateful.
James 2:5, “Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised to those who loved Him?”
Thank You Father for Your incredible grace and faithfulness! Thank You for all things which have driven me to You.
